Two restaurants at a shopping mall in Concord are closed due to rodents.

One of them has reopened after complying with the health department. The other has closed for the second time in two weeks.

Both of the restaurants are inside the Sunvalley Shopping Center. According to the Contra Costa Health Department, a total of six restaurants were closed here earlier this month because of rodent infestation.

Two weeks after being shut down by the Contra Costa Health Department, Tomi Japanese Seafood Buffet is closed for the second time. Photos show the restaurant windows covered with paper and a sign by the health department that says closed due to a rodent infestation.

The news is not sitting well with customers. But the restaurant posted a sign notifying them to call a number for updates.

Downstairs, the health department closed five other restaurants this month. All have complied with the necessary orders to re-open and was business as usual Friday but will people still eat there?

A statement from the Sunvalley Shopping Center tells KRON4:

“We have always maintained the highest standards in our common areas, and ask the same of our tenants in the leased spaces. We will continue to actively manage any issues found to ensure the health and safety of our guests.”

The health department says Tomi Sushi will remain closed until the department has an administrative hearing next week.
