GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (AP) – Police say they’ve arrested a California man and a Florida man on human trafficking charges for luring women to the Buffalo area with the promise of jobs in escort services and then holding them against their will.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office says it was tipped off last week that several women from out of state had been promised jobs by two men in the town of Grand Island. Deputies were able to learn from the women that they had been duped into coming to the area and had been threatened by one of the men who advertised jobs for an escort service.
Officials announced Wednesday that they had charged 34-year-old Emal Nessary of Inglewood, California, and 36-year-old Maxwell Cipriani of Zephyrhills, Florida, with labor trafficking and promoting prostitution.
It couldn’t be determined if they’re represented by lawyers.
