OAKLAND (KRON) — Two people have been injured in a fire in East Oakland on Tuesday afternoon, according to the fire department.
The fire was first reported at around 3:21 p.m. near 76th Avenue and Hillside Street, firefighters said. Fire crews controlled the fire 30 minutes later.
Witnesses heard explosions from the scene due to oxygen tanks, fire officials said. The fire in the area became a 2-alarm response.
At least two people were hurt with second-degree burns, officials said. The main residence burned is a total loss, firefighters said.
A neighboring house sustained some charring of the roof, and the fence was burned.
The cause of the fire is not known but is considered to be accidental.
