EL GRANADA (KRON) — The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two home invasion suspects Thursday, deputies said on Friday.
Authorities said at about midnight Sunday, deputies responded to the 200 block of Coral Reef Avenue in El Granada on a report of a burglary. When they arrived, they were told the 75-year-old victim was sleeping in her bedroom when someone put a pillow over her head and tied her wrists together.
One of the suspects, a woman, demanded money. When the resident would not say where the money was, the suspects ransacked the home, deputies said.
“Even though the victim couldn’t see the intruders, she heard at least two individuals in her bedroom. The victim believed she recognized the female’s voice as belonging to her caretaker. The intruders fled with an unknown amount of money,” deputies said in a press release.
The victim was not hurt.
The suspects were identified as Zoranna Mapapalangi, 38, of Half Moon Bay, and her husband, Antonio Mapapalang, 33, of El Granada. Both were arrested on a $500,000 warrant.
Sheriff’s detectives arrested Antonio Thursday morning in San Mateo. Later in the afternoon, authorities located and arrested Zoranna in Daly City.
Both were booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on felony charges.
