ROANOKE (WSLS) — Two people are dead, and at least two others are hurt after a shooting at a workplace in Roanoke.
Police say two people are dead, one of whom is believed to be the shooter.
The shooter is believed to be a current or former employee.
Police say the call came in at 6:08 a.m. on Tuesday.
Police are still on scene to make sure everything is cleared and everyone from both Norfolk Southern and FreightCar America has been evacuated.
Our crew spoke with Roanoke City’s Police Chief Tim Jones who said:
We believe at this point the active shooter took his own life after shooting several people. This is a very large facility and this is an active investigation.
As you can imagine it encompasses numerous acres and several different buildings. Some of the property is Norfolk Southern property some of it is leased by freightcar America and we are making sure that there are no other threats to personnel or resources on scene
