SAN JOSE (KRON)—Two California Highway Patrol officers have been injured after a crash on Interstate Highway 680 Saturday night, according to the CHP.
It happened when the officers were sitting in a CHP car in the highway’s southbound lanes near North Capitol Avenue.
The officers set up a flare pattern and had their emergency lights on.
A driver is a black Dodge Ram pickup truck did not notice the flares and quickly slammed his brakes. The driver of the truck lost control of his car because of wet road conditions. This caused the truck to slam into the patrol car.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured, but the two CHP officers have minor injuries.
Both were taken to the hospital and released a few hours later.
The driver was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, according to investigators.
Speed and wet road conditions are most likely the cause of the crash.
The CHP is reminding drivers to slow down when driving during rainy weather.
