SAN JOSE (BCN) — Firefighters contained a two-alarm vegetation fire in San Jose Friday evening that burned eight acres near a pedestrian path, a fire official said.

Fire crews responded at 4:45 p.m. to a report of a fire at Tuers Road and the East Capitol Expressway, according to a fire dispatcher.

San Jose fire Capt. Mike Van Elgort said the fire started near the Capitol Expressway and spread along Coyote Creek Trial, a pedestrian path.

No homes or businesses were immediately threatened by the blaze and no injuries were reported, Van Elgort said.

As of around 6:30 p.m., Van Elgort said firefighters had doused the majority of the blaze but would be combing through the area over the next several hours to ensure that any hot spots are fully extinguished.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.
