VACAVILLE (KRON) — A juvenile was arrested on suspicion of sending a threatening email to staff and students of Buckingham Charter Magnet High School in Vacaville.

The 17-year-old male student allegedly sent the threat to staff and students via the School Loop system at the end of the school day on Thursday afternoon around 1:15 p.m., according to police Sgt. Todd Dye.

The School Loop system enables students to contact teachers, check assignments and allows parents to check their students’ grades.

The student gained access to another students’ School Loop account when that students’ username and password was automatically saved on a computer that is shared by multiple students.

According to Sgt. Dye, the student sent a three-sentence email saying he was tired with everything and was going to take his own life Friday and take a bunch of people with him.

Students of the high school sent screen shots of the message around to other students.

Police were still trying to determine who sent it after school had closed that day.

The student was identified and arrested at his place of employment for making a criminal threat and released to his parents.

Sgt. Dye referring to the student, “He said it was a hoax with the idea it would be funny.”

Police determined there was no evidence of a plan to carry out the threat.
