SUNNYVALE (KRON) — A 17-year-old student has been arrested in connection with threats made over social media targeting Jewish students at two schools in the Fremont Union High School District.

The district sent out a letter to parents informing them about the “anonymous threats posted to social media sites” over the weekend.

The principal of Fremont High School called the threat a “religious rant” targeting Jewish students. The threats were made against students at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale and Homestead High School in Cupertino.

The 17-year-old is a student at Fremont High School.

Sunnyvale Public Safety was informed about the threats. Officers are now working with school officials to ensure the student’s safety.

The threat was posted to Instagram, according to school officials.

Investigators believe the suspect was acting alone and there is no current danger to students and staff.
