WATSONVILLE (BCN) — A 15-year-old was arrested Tuesday night in connection with a burglary at Watsonville Community School.

The teen’s name is not being released because he is a juvenile. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Watsonville police officers responded at 10:52 p.m. Tuesday to the school at 221 Airport Blvd. on a report of a burglary alarm.

While officers were headed to the scene, a neighbor reported hearing breaking glass in the area, police said.

Responding officers noticed a flashlight on in one of the rooms in a building to the rear of the school. The officers converged on the building and noticed property being thrown out of a smashed window to the side of the building, police said.

Officers then saw the juvenile climbing out of the smashed window. The juvenile was confronted by officers and was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit, according to police.

Police said the juvenile was the only suspect involved in the burglary and all of the property was recovered.
