PETALUMA (KRON) — A 14-year-old girl is suffering from several traumatic injuries after a car accident in Petaluma Thursday morning, police said.

The teenage girl was riding in a Lexus SUV with her mother when they collided with a Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up truck at the intersection of Sonoma Mountain Parkway and Rainier Circle around 6:40 a.m., Petaluma police Sgt. Ron Klein said.

The Lexus was turning left from a stop sign at Rainier Circle to head south on Sonoma Mountain Parkway, and crashed into the Dodge traveling north on the same road, according to Klein.

Now the Petaluma girl is in critical condition at the Oakland Children’s Hospital with a head injury, fractured vertebrae, and internal injuries.

Police believe she was not wearing a seat belt during the accident.

Her mother and the Dodge driver also suffered injuries, none of which are believed to be life-threatening.

However, the Dodge driver was taken Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Police do not suspect that alcohol was involved in the accident, and both drivers gave blood samples as evidence, Klein said.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the Petaluma Police Department’s traffic unit Sgt. Mario Giomi at (707) 778-3722.
