BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – A 12-year-old boy is being held at a youth development center after shooting at his mother three times on Wednesday.
Around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, deputies responded to a home reference a juvenile shooting at his mother.
Upon arrival, the mother told them that her 12-year-old son shot at her three times.
She said her son had a towel wrapped around the barrel of the handgun.
She started praying and begging him not to kill her.
The mother was able to get the gun away from her son and call for help.
The boy was transported to the Burke County Jail, where he was processed then transported to YDC.
He is charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of Firearm during the Commission of Certain Crimes.
The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
