Several members of a serial burglary ring in San Francisco are now behind bars.

Police say the suspects are responsible for millions of dollars worth of stolen property in recent months.

Although arrests have been made, investigators say they are on the hunt for more burglary crews still out there.

“As she lifts up the garage door, they hear it, and you will see them flee that home,” San Francisco police Lt. Greg McEachern said. “This gives you an idea and a picture of how dangerous this can be.”

Lt. McEachern showed KRON4 home surveillance video of members of a burglary crew that has been targeting residents in the Bayview, Ingleside, and Taraval districts.

He says the burglary crew is just one of many targeting these areas,

“The burglaries occurred in both occupied and unoccupied residences,” Lt. McEachern said.

The identities of 10 of the burglary suspects have been released. They are connected to a series of burglaries, and they have been arrested over the past five months by San Francisco police’s newly-formed burglary task force called the General Crimes Unit.

“In the last 90 days, we authored and served several search and arrest warrants in San Francisco, Oakland, Antioch, Las Vegas, and as early as last week, Brentwood, California,” Lt. McEachern said.

KRON4 has photos of some of the property recovered during the search warrants.

“Over the course of the investigation, we determined that 11 firearms, hundreds of pieces of jewelry, U.S. and foreign currency, passports, vehicle titles and vehicles stolen valued at $3 million,” Lt. McEachern said. “The middle picture is firearms that we recovered–cash, jewelry passports, as well as the vehicles that we recovered and towed.”

San Francisco’s burglary unit has identified 20 additional burglary suspects connected to several different burglary crews that officers are seeking to arrest.

Lt. McEachern says their work is just beginning.

“In November, we established the General Crimes Unit to focus on serial and residential burglaries,” Lt. McEachern said. “We believe that the strategy is showing results. These arrests are an example.”
