PETALUMA (BCN) — A DUI checkpoint in Petaluma Saturday night resulted in 11 arrests, according to the Petaluma Police Department.

Officers set up the DUI checkpoint between 6 p.m. and 1:45 a.m. the following morning, on Petaluma Boulevard South, between McNear Avenue and Crystal Lane, police said.

Out of 537 vehicles screened throughout the operation, officers arrested two people suspected of driving drunk and 8 people who were driving with a suspended or revoked license, according to police.

Additionally, officers arrested a 33-year-old man who was uncooperative during the operation. The man, later identified as Irish McBroom, initially refused to provide officers with identification.

When officers tried to get McBroom to exit his car, he refused and officers pulled him out of the vehicle, police said.

After restraining him, officers learned McBroom had a warrant for his arrest for driving on a suspended license, according to police.

He was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a peace officer, driving on a suspended license, in addition to the warrant.

He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail with bail set at $27,000, according to police.
