RICHMOND (KRON)—The Richmond Police Department is offering a $10,000 award leading to the arrest of the suspect who stole a presidential coin from a park ranger.

94-year-old Betty Reid Soskin was given the coin from President Barack Obama in June.

Soskin did receive a replacement coin from the president last month.

She was physically attacked inside her Richmond apartment around midnight on June 27 and had her prized coin taken from her.

Soskin woke up to a man going through her jewelry box in her bedroom.

The suspect saw she was about to call police and took the phone away from her. He then began punching her.

The man dragged Soskin into her hallway and unleashed more punches, according to police.

Soskin had a black eye and other injuries after the attack. She did not return to work until one week later on July 12.
