HERCULES (KRON) — A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect who put hundreds of thumbtacks in one local dog park.

PETA, who is offering the reward, said it wants to stop the person who has scattered over 4,000 tacks around the Ohlone Dog Park in Hercules.

Dog owners say they started noticing the tacks over a month ago.

One dog has been hurt from stepping on one, and another dog swallowed one.

PETA said it hopes its reward will encourage people to come forward.

“It is PETA’s hope their offer will encourage responsible citizens to come forward and provide the information needed to stop the person(s) who is threatening the wellbeing of the animal, and the human, community using the Ohlone Dog Park,” Hercules police Det. Connie Van Putten said.

The dog park is located at 109 Turquoise Dr.

No suspect information is available at this time.
