One person was killed when a small plane crashed near the Palo Alto Airport Tuesday, according to fire officials.
Three people were inside the single-engine aircraft when it crashed into the San Francisco Bay. A man was killed and two women were injured.
The two women were transported to the Stanford Trauma Center.
The plane was carrying patients to Stanford Children’s Hospital.
The single-engine Mooney M20 was trying to land when it crashed in a pond Tuesday. He says the plane had reportedly flown in from Redding.
The Federal Aviation Administration says the pilot was executing a go-around at Palo Alto Airport when it crashed.
Palo Alto Deputy Fire Chief Geoffrey Blackshire says the injured women were taken to a hospital by ambulance.
He says one of the women walked to the ambulance and the other was carried in a gurney.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
