CASTRO VALLEY (KRON)– Nearly 11 hours after a deadly big rig accident, all lanes of Westbound 580 in Castro Valley are open.
One person died when two big rigs and a car collided early Thursday morning near the Eden Canyon off ramp.
The crash happened shortly after 4 a.m. when a car cut off the first big rig causing the driver to slam on his brakes, that sent a second big rig flying into the back of the first big rig.
The driver of the second big rig was the one killed.

Large amounts of diesel spewed from one of the big rigs. Fire officials were unable to clean up the area and had to wait for sweepers to arrive.
