The dangerous weekend has hit close to home in the Bay Area where we’ve seen a number of accidents.

DUI drivers aren’t getting away though. On Sunday night in San Leandro, a woman in her 20s was arrested, and it was all caught on camera.

Officers say the DUI injured a 63-year-old woman. Witnesses tell KRON4 that they could smell the alcohol on a young woman who was arrested by San Leandro police.

Cellphone video from witnesses shows the arrest go down. You can see the young woman in handcuffs.

Police say the suspect they arrested is 25 years old. Witnesses tell KRON4 she ran a red light and crashed into the Prius of the other woman, police said. Witnesses say the suspect either spilled alcohol or liquid on herself or peed her pants.

This happened at East 14th and Davis Street. This is a major intersection in the city.

Those witnesses say that after the collision, they could hear the suspect trying to start her car.

It wouldn’t start though, and she was arrested on suspicion of DUI a short time later.

Amy Brown lives nearby and says it’s upsetting that someone would choose to get behind the wheel in a situation like this.

“I mean, there’s so many ways to get around,” Brown said. “You don’t have to drive your vehicles to get around anymore. If you know you’re drinking, why drive your own car?”

In this case, the woman in the Prius was taken to the hospital.

Her condition is unknown but she was able to walk to the ambulance.

It has been a very tragic weekend with more than double the fatality collisions in comparison to last Labor Day weekend.

Nobody was killed in the accident.
