SONOMA COUNTY (KRON) — A flareup in the Kincade Fire could be seen in Geyserville Friday night, bringing large plumes of smoke over parts of Sonoma County.

CAL FIRE said late Friday that the smoke is now being investigated.

The agency said its too early to speculate — but did confirm they sent additional firefighters and responders toward the plume.

The smoke was seen around 4:30 p.m. from Pine Flat Road near Geyserville as winds began to pick up slightly.

The Kincade Fire began Wednesday night around 9:30 p.m. and has since grown to 23,700 acres as of Friday night.

Friday’s flareup came out of nowhere, according to KRON4’s Michelle Kingston who’s at the scene.

The smoke can seen in the area of Geyser Peak.

The fire is 5 percent contained, according to CAL FIRE.

Forty-nine structures have been destroyed, which includes 21 homes.

Evacuation orders are still in place, according to CAL FIRE, and 600 structures are threatened.

There are no reports of fatalities, injuries or missing persons because of the fire.
