Philippe Djegal

Philippe Djegal joined KRON 4 News in August 2012.

A San Francisco Bay Area native, Philippe was born and raised in Walnut Creek. He graduated from San Francisco State University, majoring in Broadcast Journalism.

Before joining KRON 4 News, he was a reporter for KCRA 3 in Sacramento, KESQ in Palm Springs and KLTV in Tyler, Texas. He was also a Producer at KGO Radio in San Francisco.

In 2004, he broke into the television industry with an internship with the Walt Disney World College Program in Orlando, Florida where he worked with ESPN, the Orlando Sentinel and the Atlanta Braves.

Upon his return to SFSU, he gathered soundbites for the Golden State Warriors Radio Network, interned with KPIX-TV in San Francisco and served as a play-by-play announcer and color analyst for Comcast Hometown Network, calling high school basketball, football and baseball games.

An avid traveler, Philippe served as a Media Consultant in Afghanistan in 2008 for a project financed by the World Bank. The Middle East, Southwest Asia and international politics are his passion. He has traveled all across the United States, Mexico, Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

When he is away from the newsroom, you’ll find Philippe at the gym, on the driving range, or watching a good movie.
