Gayle Ong

Gayle Ong joined KRON4 as a video journalist in April 2018.

Gayle is a Bay Area native and thrilled to be back home. She grew up in Union City and graduated from James Logan High School.

Prior to joining KRON4, Gayle spent almost 9 years living and working as a journalist in New York State, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.

Most recently, Gayle lived upstate and worked at WETM-TV in Elmira, N.Y. where she was a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor/producer. She covered the beautiful Finger Lakes region, known for its state parks and award-winning wineries, breweries and distilleries. She also covered the world of professional auto racing, including NASCAR. Gayle got to ride along with many professional race car drivers. Her most memorable ride was with racing legend Mario Andretti, behind the wheel of an Indy car hitting triple digit speeds.

Before WETM-TV, Gayle lived in New York City and worked at the nationally syndicated newsmagazine show, Inside Edition. She was an associate producer for their promotions department where she wrote and produced on-air promos and pre-show teases. Before that, Gayle was a production assistant for Fox News Channel, also working in promos.

She is a graduate of Brooklyn College with a B.A. in Radio and Television. While attending BC, Gayle got her first job in television news as an assignment editor at News 12 The Bronx and News 12 Brooklyn. She also held internships at WABC-TV and OK! TV, another nationally syndicated show.
