Dan Thorn

Dan is a native New Yorker excited to be living and reporting in the Bay Area!

Dan joined the KRON4 News team in October 2018 after 3 years of anchoring and reporting with WOWK 13 News in Charleston, West Virginia.

A graduate of Brooklyn College, he began his career as a desk assistant at CBS2 News in New York City. His first on-air job was as an Evening Anchor with WVNS 59News in Ghent, WV.

While working in the mountain state, Dan was awarded best general assignment reporting and best breaking news coverage by the West Virginia Broadcasters Association.

While leading the statewide team on WOWK’s “West Virginia Tonight,” Dan covered the opioid epidemic, landmark criminal trials, a statewide teacher strike and a 1,000-year flood.

Dan also interviewed several notable business and political figures including U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders.

His favorite stories are the ones showcasing people doing good in the community. He rode along with a man driving a message through the world of addiction in a ‘Heroin Hearse.’ He also had the pleasure to meet a 6-year-old boy named Cooper who got a new lease on life with a 3-D printed hand. By the way, did you know McDonald’s once sold pizza? Dan reported on the last two personal pies being sold in Pomeroy, Ohio!

In his free time he enjoys watching sports (Go Yanks!) and movies, traveling, working out and listening to music.
