San Francisco police are investigating a fatal collision involving a city transit bus Saturday night.

Authorities say a man was struck and killed by a Golden Gate Transit bus around 7:30 p.m. near the corner of Golden Gate and Hyde street in the Tenderloin.

Supervisor Matt Haney says changes are needed at the “incredibly dangerous intersection” where the accident occurred.

Haney says the intersection has fast-moving traffic, rapid turns and a large number of pedestrians.

Non-profit organization Walk San Francisco said the killing marked the 10th pedestrian death in the city this year.

Priya Clemens, a spokesperson for the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District, said the man fell backward and hit his head on the transit bus.

Clemens said the bus driver immediately underwent drug and alcohol test and is on administrative leave.
