Seven teenagers in San Mateo are facing charges after police say they were caught rummaging through a stolen car.

Officers were called Friday morning to South Fremont Street for a report of suspicious people.

The group ran away when officers arrived. Police say the teenagers were uncooperative when officers caught up with them, in addition, they fought with officers and gave them fake names.

The teenagers range between the ages of 14 and 17-years-old.

Authorities say three boys, ages 17, 16, and 15 were arrested, along with a 14-year-old girl.

They are charged with possession of stolen property and obstructing a police officer.

The four teens were taken to Hillcrest Juvenile Hall in San Mateo while the other three involved were released to their parents.
