Authorities are investigating the cause of a two-alarm fire that ripped through a commercial structure in Novato early Monday.

A commercial complex at 385 Bel Marin Keys Boulevard caught on fire just after midnight and had flames shooting through the roof of the building.

When officials arrived, the fire already engulfed 30 to 40-percent of the building and no one was hurt in the fire.

Two business owners were inside the structure. They were able to safely escape from the fire and call 911.

Officials say all businesses in the building have smoke and/or fire or water damage due to some extent.

The fire department says they do not know the cause or the point of origin because the damage is so severe they haven’t been able to get an inspector inside to figure it out.

All 10 businesses suffered some sort of damage, eight of them with significant fire damage.

The Red Cross was on the scene to help.

The fire was contained around 1:15 a.m.
