SAN JOSE (KRON) — Members of the San Jose Police are in the process of evicting about a dozen people who have been living at an encampment near the intersection of Almaden Road and Almaden Expressway.
This is an plot of land owned by the Union Pacific Railroad.
In the past week, San Jose police say they have written 34 tickets for tresspassing, and recovered a stolen car at the encampment.
The encampment looks like a tent city, similar to San Jose’s “Jungle” homeless encampment.
This new site is much smaller than the “Jungle”.
Only about a dozen people appear to be living at this location.
According to homeless advocate, Robert Aquirre, many, but not all, of the residents at this encampment were previously living at the “Jungle”.
