HALF MOON BAY (KRON) The San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services is reporting two Thursday mountain lion sightings in Half Moon Bay.
The first sighting occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the area of Miramontes Point Road and state Highway 1.
About 10 minutes later, there was a second reported sighting in the Canada Cove Mobile Home Community.
County officials are warning residents not to approach a mountain lion if they spot it, especially if it is feeding or with its offspring.
Residents are also advised not to hike or jog at times when mountain lions are most active. These times include dawn, dusk and at night.
When hiking, people should keep a close watch on small children. Officials also advise not running if someone comes in contact with a mountain lion. Instead, people are advised to face the animal, make noise and try to look bigger by waving and throwing rocks or other objects.
