SANTA ROSA (BCN) — A Vallejo man was arrested Thursday in connection with residential burglary in Santa Rosa, according to police.

Officers responded at 1:17 p.m. to a report of a burglary-in-progress in the area of Charles Street and Santa Rosa Avenue, police said. The victim reported an unknown man was inside his residence.

Police said the suspect, later identified as Michael Burnett Jones, 33, of Vallejo, fled the residence while the victim was on the phone with police.

The victim reported a gun and loaded magazines were missing from his bedroom, police said.

A Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office helicopter also responded to the scene and located a possible suspect fleeing the area near Luther Burbank Gardens. Officers on the ground, with the help of the helicopter crew, were then able to locate Jones and take him into custody without incident, police said.

Jones was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary.
