SANTA ROSA (BCN) — A male pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries when he ran into traffic in Santa Rosa and was struck by a vehicle Sunday night, a police sergeant said.
The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was seen erratically running around the area of Santa Rosa and Sebastopol avenues around 9:35 p.m., Sgt. Ryan Corcoran said.
The pedestrian ran east across Santa Rosa Avenue without warning and was struck by the right front side of a 2003 Toyota Corolla heading south, Corcoran said.
The pedestrian was thrown to the ground. He was found unconscious in the roadway and was taken to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, Corcoran said.
The Toyota driver, Jessica Grace Velarde, 22, of South San Francisco, stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, Corcoran said.
Police today were still trying to confirm the pedestrian’s identity, Corcoran said. Anyone who saw the collision is asked to call Officer Mike Mieger at (707) 543-3636.
