LOS ANGELES (KRON) — It’s official. The cougar has left the building.
A state wildlife official says a celebrity mountain lion that spent much of Monday lounging under a Los Angeles house has wandered out on its own.
Lt. J.C. Healy of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife said a thorough check early Tuesday turned up no sign of the big cat under the home in the hilly Los Feliz neighborhood.
The cougar, known as P-22, has a red ear tag and a collar with an electronic beacon. He normally in Griffith Park.
Officials are sure where the big cat went, but are trying to find out by using the signal from its collar.
This isn’t the mountain lion’s first brush with stardom. In 2013, P-22 was photographed by National Geographic with the Hollywood sign in the background.
