SAN JOSE (KRON) –A 23-year-old man has been arrested after two people were killed in a car accident Wednesday night in San Jose.
San Jose police were called to a car accident in the 1200 block of North Capitol Avenue just after 9:45 p.m.
Officers arrived to find a silver Lexus SUV that had rolled over, landing on its roof. There were five people inside the car.
Three of them were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two others died at the scene.
SJPD’s Traffic Investigation Unit responded to the crash and started their investigation.
They determined that the Lexus was going north on N. Capitol Avenue when the driver lost control of the SUV. Investigators think he hit the center median which caused the SUV to roll over and land on its roof.
Officers found alcohol inside the vehicle. The driver, Christian Clennan of San Jose was determined to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
He was arrested and charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter and drunk driving.
The identity of the victims will not be released until the Coroner’s Office has notified next of kin.
