SAN LEANDRO (KRON) — Police in San Leandro have arrested the robbery suspect they were searching for on Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect, described as a thin black man in his mid 30’s who was wearing a gray shirt and dark jeans, fled from CHP following a freeway pursuit.

This led to a yard to yard search in the area between the Estudillo Estates and Assumption Parish neighborhoods, assisted by the San Leandro Police Department.

Due to the police activity, Bancroft Middle School was placed on lockdown and the student’s parents were then contacted.

Schools have since returned to their normal day and parents are now able to pick up their children.

Detectives continue to search the area of evidence that the suspect may have left behind.

Authorities say the orders for having a shelter in place has since been lifted.

Police say there are no other wanted suspects.

The police department thanks the community for their patience and for sharing information to police that led to the suspects’ arrest.
