YERBA BUENA ISLAND (KRON) — San Francisco firefighters are trying to figure out how an empty car ended up on the rocks of Yerba Buena Island Tuesday morning.
The car was first spotted around 7:30 a.m. near the lighthouse on the southeast tip of the island, San Francisco fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.
Crews on scene were able to determine that the car was empty. Investigators “are going to try to figure out how it got there,” Talmadge said.
Yerba Buena Island connects the eastern and western spans of the Bay Bridge and also houses a U.S. Coast Guard station.
