SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A construction crew digging in the area of 4th and Folsom streets in San Francisco prompted evacuations Wednesday afternoon.
During the leak, the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management asked people to avoid the area around Moscone Center.

A crew working on the Central Subway project is believed to have hit a 1-inch gas line, causing the leak. Officials from MUNI have not confirmed whether the gas line break was definitely related to work on the Central Subway.
The gas was shut off shortly before 5 p.m.
