PLEASANTON (KRON) — An after-school teacher was arrested on Thursday, accused of molesting a former student in 2014.
Pleasanton police arrested 22-year-old Alexander Kurtz in the parking lot of Building Kidz School. The after-school teacher has been charged with lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14.
Thursday’s arrest comes after a sexual abuse investigation into an alleged event that happened at the school.
Police think that the Castro Valley man sexually abused a teenage girl, who was a former student at the school.
Currently, police believe this was an isolated incident with one victim.
At the time of the alleged incident, the school was called Busy Bees. In September of 2014, Building Kidz took over the school and changed its name.
Pleasanton police told Building Kidz School about Kurtz’ arrest. The school has since terminated the after-school teacher.
The school’s founder and president, Vineeta Bhandari, said that the school is assisting police with their investigation. Bhandari also said that the school does background checks for all employees, and Kurtz passed his background check.
