OAKLAND (KRON/BCN) — Oakland police are looking for a Buddhist monk accused of stabbing and critically injuring a fellow monk.

Police say officers responded to reports of a stabbing on Tuesday evening at an East Oakland temple in the 600 block of Douglas Avenue.

A man associated with the Branch of International Community of Khmer Buddhist Monks Center confirmed a stabbing involving two monks happened at that location.

The 66-year-old stabbing victim was taken to a hospital and has been listed in critical but stable condition, according to police.

The monk accused in the assault fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival and remained at large as of Thursday morning.
