SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A trip to Alaska to view the wild scenes and majestic grandeur is a popular bucket list item, but travelers must be prepared to turn in summer shorts and tropical destinations for winter wear and dreary weather.

Travel enthusiast Dana Rebmann stopped by the KRON 4 studio Sunday to share her impressions of her Alaskan voyage. She told KRON’s Marty Gonzalez why the trade-off is well worth hauling a suitcase bulging with coats, scarfs and layers of fleece.

Photos of waterfalls, glaciers and wildlife may be beautiful, but they pale in comparison to the unique and stunning settings travelers see from the deck of a ship, she explained.
