SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — KRON 4 was first to break the story about striping problems on the new Presidio Parkway that snarled traffic for drivers during the morning commute.
KRON 4 news caught up with Presidio Parkway officials, including Caltrans officials, to ask them about the striping–and what they planned to do about situation and the criticism. Officials said they are committed to fixing any immediate problems to ensure driver safety.
“Well, we did a lot of work in 71 hours, so it had to be that way to minimize the impact of the motoring public,” Caltrans director Malcom Dougherty said.
Dougherty is responding to criticism that the new lane striping in the Presidio Parkway was erroneous done. And that criticism from the project’s architect.
“It has always been temporary situation.” Peter Van Der Waart Vangulik said. “This was always foreseen to be the situation.”
New striping to fix the problem will happen Monday night, crews said.
