SAN MATEO COUNTY (BCN) — A woman suffered multiple injuries after being assaulted by a man panhandling in Moss Beach last week, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim was attacked last Thursday evening while walking from a bar to her vehicle in the 400 block of Marine Boulevard, sheriff’s officials said.
The suspect had asked the victim for a couple of dollars, to which the victim obliged. The suspect then started to follow her, even as she crossed the street, until he pushed her from behind and she fell approximately 8-10 feet below into a creek bed, according to the sheriff’s office.
The victim stayed there until the next morning in order to find an easier place to climb up the creek bank. She found assistance at a nearby business and was treated by paramedics, sheriff’s officials said.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where it was determined that she suffered a broken arm and several broken ribs.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man about 35 years old who is about 6 feet 1 inch tall with a muscular build, short dark hair, and who spoke good English with a Spanish accent.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the case.
