UPDATE 4:28 P.M.: The lockdown has been lifted. The victim told the emergency room staff that the stabbing had just occurred at the John F. Baldwin Park, located at 2790 Parkside Circle, and Blakely said the staff was in possession of the knife.

Emergency room staff placed the department on lockdown but as of around 4:00 p.m., Blakely said the lockdown had been lifted.

Police said the man is 59-year-old transient. He was stabbed by a 24-year-old man near the bathrooms at the park after an argument, police said.

The suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. Police do not believe it is gang-related.

The victim is expected to survive.

CONCORD (BCN) — John Muir Medical Center in Concord is on lockdown this afternoon after a person walked in with a stab wound to the chest, a police corporal said.

The stabbing victim walked into the emergency room just after 3 p.m., Concord police Cpl. Christopher Blakely said.

The victim told the emergency room staff he was stabbed at John F. Baldwin Park, located at 2790 Parkside Circle. Blakely said the hospital staff was in possession of the knife.

As of around 3:20 p.m., Blakely said the emergency room was on lockdown.

No further information was immediately available.
