VACAVILLE (KRON) — Vacaville police arrested two residents of Sacramento at a car dealership on Saturday around 5 P.M. in the 600 block of Orange Drive

According to authorities the suspects allegedly tried to purchase a car using a dead person’s identification.

Police responded at about 5 p.m. with the help of an alert employee.

Officers contacted the suspects just as they were leaving, and a records check revealed that both of them had outstanding arrest warrants, police said.

When officers detained the suspects they were allegedly found to be in possession of numerous credit cards and forms of identification that didn’t belong to either of them, according to police.

Police booked Bryan Newman, 56, and Tiombe Rankins, 36, into the Solano County Jail.

Police arrested Rankins on suspicion of identity theft, burglary, fraud and violating the terms of her probation. Officers arrested Newman on an outstanding warrant, police said.
