REDWOOD CITY (KRON/BCN) — An 18-year-old man was shot in a gang-related incident by an occupant of an SUV in Redwood City Sunday night, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

Two of the man’s friends were arrested at the crime scene, sheriff’s officials said.

The victim was in the 100 block of Dumbarton Avenue at 10:55 p.m. when the vehicle pulled up next to him.

He was in an argument with the people in the SUV. This resulted in a male suspect shooting at the him around four or five times, according to sheriff’s officials.

He had a gunshot wound to his back and was taken to Stanford Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, sheriff’s officials said.

Three deputies suffered minor injuries when they fought with the victim’s friends during the investigation of the crime scene. The 19-year-old and 15-year-old Redwood City residents were booked into jail on suspicion of obstructing police officers, said the sheriff’s officials.

The shooting was gang related, according to Detective Sal Zuno.
