OAKLAND (KRON) — On the first day of school, the Oakland Unified School District is short 15 teachers of what they need this school year. A shortage of 15 teachers may seem like a lot, but it is still more than what it has been in the past few weeks.
Oakland had 70 vacancies two weeks ago. They are increasing, but still in need of 15 more teachers for the schools in the district.
Officials say that it is unlikely that all of the spots will be filled by Monday. However, there will be credentialed instructors in all of the classrooms, according to officials.
