EAST PALO ALTO (KRON) — Our ongoing Ready 4 School segment takes you to East Palo Alto, where KRON4’s Rob Fladeboe shows you how some of the Bay Area’s best and brightest are getting ready for college.

The kids at Eastside Preparatory School in East Palo Alto are happy to be back.

Eastside Prep is an independent, privately-funded middle and high school dedicated to providing a free college prep education for kids from low-income families.

What in 1996 began in a park, and then a small house, now boasts 300 students, many of whom live on-campus.

Every graduate in Eastside’s history has been accepted to a four-year school — Harvard, Yale and Wellseley to name a few. Most are the first in their families to go to college.

The curriculum is rigorous, but there’s art and music and sports — and so much more.
