HILLSBOROUGH (KRON) — A troubling trend on the Peninsula — property crime is on the rise.
In a recent burglary in Hillsborough, thieves targeted a home on the 100 block of Denise Drive.
KRON4’s Scott Rates spoke to several neighbors who said they are worried about a rise in crime all over the Peninsula, especially the last burglary that was caught on video.
Surveillance video shot from inside a Hillsborough home shows two thieves tearing through the house Tuesday afternoon.
In the video, you can see the burglars ransacking the place, dumping out bags, and ripping down surveillance cameras.
“We arrived within two minutes of getting the call, but the suspects had already left,” Hillsborough police Cpt. Doug Davis said.
Davis told KRON4 the crooks got away with an undisclosed amount of jewelry.
Just three months ago, the town saw a spike in property crime, but after some arrests, that number went down. But now, they’ve gone back up.
Investigators said they are looking into the possibility they might know who one of those burglars is.
