SANTA CLARA (KRON) — The tragic events in Paris last week have left a lot of people wondering whether a similar attack could happen in the United States.

There is also concern that large events, such as the upcoming Super Bowl in Santa Clara, could be targeted. So, security at Super Bowl 50 could be adjusted after the attacks that left more than 100 people dead, and hundreds more injured.

During the week of the Super Bowl, the Super Bowl Village will be set up at the foot of Market Street in San Francisco, and visitors can expect tight security. The game will be held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, and visitors will see a strong police presence.

When Super Bowl 50 arrives Feb. 7 at Levi’s Stadium, those in attendance can expect tight security. The Department of Homeland Security has said there is no credible evidence that a terror attack is planned for inside the U.S., but the people in charge of security at the game say they are not letting their guard down.

“Here in Santa Clara, we have been preparing for the Super Bowl for the past two years,” Santa Clara police Chf. Mike Sellers said.

Sellers said that his department has been working with a team of local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to develop a security plan for before, during, and after the Super Bowl. In light of recent events in Paris, he said the team could be reevaluating their strategies.

“What we are hoping to learn is, in the next week or two, we will get some lessons learned from what happened over in Paris, and then we will be able to compare that information to our current plans to see if we need to make any tweaks or not,” Sellers said.

For security reasons, Sellers would not go into specifics about what they have planned for the game, but he did say that their goal is to ensure everyone’s safety.

“So that people who come to the stadium will be safe, that’s what we want,” Sellers said. “We want to create a very safe environment for people to enjoy–if it’s the Super Bowl or any other event held at Levi’s.”

The FBI is planning a training exercise at Levi’s Stadium Tuesday.
