SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KRON) – COVID-19 vaccines continue to be distributed across the country, and the Bay Area is gearing up to expand the vaccine eligibility.
Governor Gavin Newsom announced on Mar. 25, that California expects to receive 2.5 million doses each week for the first half of April and over 3 million a week for the second half of the month.
Currently, there are three vaccines being distributed in the U.S. — Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson.
When am I eligible?
- April 1: California residents 50 years and older
- April 15: California residents 16 and older

The Oakland Coliseum opened a mass vaccination site on Feb. 16. — You can make an appointment HERE. Keep in mind this vaccination site is expected to close April 11.
The county and private health care providers are using the Alameda County Fairgrounds for appointment-only COVID-19 vaccination programs — You can make an appointment HERE.
Contra Costa
