PETALUMA (KRON/BCN) — Police are warning Petaluma residents to take extra steps to safeguard their homes after two similar burglary incidents Friday.
According to police two separate residential burglaries occurred at two residences, which are both vacant and under construction, on Edith and Seventh Streets.
Police said in both burglaries, burglars stole tools from the construction company and forced rear doors open to gain access.
At least one of the homes showed evidence of burglars leaving a piece of meat with an unknown white powder substance wrapped inside by a pet access door to possible poison any animals inside, police said.
According to police, the family pet was not harmed.
Police have asked anyone with information about these incidents to contact the Petaluma police at (707) 778-4372.
