CONTRA COSTA COUNTY (KRON) — Shots were fired on Highway 4 near Bailey Road on Friday night, according to Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Deputy Lt. Ian Herbert.
It happened at around 9 p.m. Police said two people in a pickup truck heard a “pop” and heard the glass shatter.
The truck managed to make it to a gas station on Willow Pass Road. They immediately pulled off the freeway, into the Chevron gas station, only to discover it was a bullet hole in the glass.
Drivers reported a car shooting at a pickup westbound near the Bailey Road offramp.
A bullet hole and broken glass are at the scene. The sheriff’s office will investigate, as the car ended up off the highway in an unincorporated area of Contra Costa County.
No major injuries have been reported.
A woman in the car sustained very minor injuries from the shattered glass. A male driver was not hurt.
No suspect description is available.
There have been close to 30 highway shootings in recent months in the area.
